Press InformationThe National Museum of the Marine Corps is U.S. and world history as seen through the eyes of the Marines. With a mission to preserve and exhibit the material history of the U.S. Marine Corps, the Museum currently chronicles that history from the birth of the Corps in 1775 to the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. The immersive galleries display less than a quarter of the more than 60,000 uniforms, weapons, vehicles, medals, flags, aircraft, works of art and other artifacts in the Museum’s collections.
New galleries are nearing completion. These galleries tell of the Corps’ history from 1976 through the war on terrorism. Visitors will be immersed in Desert Storm, Somalia, humanitarian efforts, Iraq and Afghanistan. These galleries are anticipated to open by 2025. Even beyond that point the Museum will continue to grow and evolve. There are always new stories to tell and newly acquired artifacts to tell them with. There’s never a shortage of stories. These galleries, artifacts, events and people offer a ready platform for media exploration of the Corps and its rich history. We often host news crews, reporters, documentarians, producers and photographers for shoots in the galleries and other spaces. Our team is well acquainted with needs related to live broadcasts as well as prerecorded media pieces. We can accommodate after-hours shoots as well as in the moment news casts. Releasable photographs of the Museum can be found on our Flickr page.
