Professional Military Education (PME) & Leadership Programs
A visit to the National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC) provides guests with an unparalleled opportunity to experience history from the perspective of a United States Marine.
The NMMC has developed educational materials and conducts educational programs that serve military units and schoolhouses, JROTC, Recruiting Command, first responders, teachers, corporate groups, scout troops, and more. The NMMC's Professional Military Education (PME) programs for military groups focus primarily on small unit leadership and are presented using the stories of lesser-known Marine Corps heroes. PME topics not only encourage but also require Marines and other military personnel to engage critical thinking skills. Programs also include case studies, in-depth battle studies, an overview of Marine Corps history, culture, and more. Programs may be tailored to meet the educational needs of units and schoolhouses. For civilian and youth groups, NMMC leadership programs emphasize the relationship between United States history and Marine Corps history and focus on stories of leadership. Topics encourage the use of critical thinking skills. Programs can be customized to address a group’s particular educational needs. Programs typically last two hours and can be adjusted to meet varied educational content needs. Most programs take place entirely within the NMMC’s galleries and use teaching artifacts and exhibits to enhance the overall learning experience. |
