Prince William Forest Park
Explore history and nature beneath the 15,000-acre forested canopy of Prince William Forest Park, a unit of the National Park Service. Prince William Forest Park is located just one mile from the National Museum of the Marine Corps, on Joplin Road (VA Rte 619).
In operation since 1936, Prince William Forest Park provides hiking and biking trails; picnicking and ranger programs; cabin, tent, and RV camping; and a peaceful oasis away from city lights. Its close proximity to Washington, D.C., and wide variety of overnight accommodations make Prince William Forest Park an ideal place to visit. Hike on 37 miles of hiking trails, and bike on 21 miles of bicycle-accessible roads and trail. Locust Shade ParkThis family-oriented 290-acre wooded park is located directly next door to the Marine Corps Heritage Center. It features an 8-acre lake for boating and fishing (no Virginia State fishing license required for children age 16 yrs and under), 8 picnic pavilions perfect for reunions, a Golf Center with a 25-station driving range and 18 holes of miniature golf, a 7-station batting cage, 2 horseshoe pits, and a 400-seat Amphitheater scheduled with family entertainment. Stafford Armed Services Memorial
Completed in 2017, the Stafford Armed Services Memorial is a monument to the veterans from Stafford County from the Revolutionary War to the current Global War on Terror. Designed based on submissions for local high-schoolers, the memorial features sections honoring each war as well as bricks purchased by families and dedicated to service members. Medal of Honor Golf Course
Medal of Honor Golf Course is an 18 Hole facility, open aboard the "Crossroads of the Marine Corps", MCB Quantico, VA. This facility is open to the General Public. Medal of Honor has a gorgeous practice facility with a short game area and a practice green side bunker, a large putting green, and a fully lit driving range. Forest Green Golf Club
Originally part of a land transfer from the “Federal Lands to Parks” program, along with Locust Shade Park, this back-to-nature 18-hole golf course is located only minutes from the Marine Corps Heritage Center, in Dumfries, VA. Amid the pine-lined fairways and cart paths at Forest Greens, you feel as if you're playing through a national park and not at a course near metro hustle and hubbub. A round at this course, designed by renowned Hilton Head architect Clyde Johnston, is truly an incredible value.
