Amtrak offers daily service between Union Station and the town of Quantico. We recommend that you take the first morning train to Quantico and the last afternoon train back to Washington, D.C., to give you time enough to tour the Museum.
From the Quantico VRE/Amtrak train station, contact Prince William Yellow Cab at 703-491-2222 or 703-369-2100 to arrange transportation for the short ride (approximately 3 miles) to the Museum. Amtrak schedules and fare rates from the Washington, D.C., area to the town of Quantico are available on Amtrak’s web site at www.amtrak.com. |

Visitors may also reach the Museum from the Washington, D.C. area on weekdays only via the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) Metrorail service and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission’s (PRTC) OmniRide/OmniLink local bus service.
Travel from the Washington, D.C., area on the Metrorail’s Blue Line south to the Franconia/Springfield station. At the station, board the Prince William-Metro Direct (OmniRide) Bus to the PRTC Transit Center. At the PRTC, transfer to the Dumfries Route OmniLink Bus. Take the OmniLink Bus southbound to the Fuller Heights and Old Triangle stop (at 7-11 convenience store). Please allow 1-hour total time to reach the Fuller Heights and Old Triangle stop from the Franconia/Springfield Metro stop via bus. From the 7-11 store, contact Prince William Yellow Cab at 703-491-2222 or 703-369-2100 to arrange transportation for the very short ride. Or, on foot, follow Fuller Heights west to intersection of Fuller Road and Route 1. Cross Fuller Road to the Iwo Jima Memorial Statue. Cross Route 1 to the sidewalk on the western side of highway. Walk south on Route 1 approximately 100 yards to entrance to National Museum of the Marine Corps. Follow the entranceway over the short rise, through the Museum’s parking area and main entrance. Watch for vehicle traffic entering the Museum’s gate from Route 1. Be aware that the distance from the bus stop at Fuller Heights and Old Triangle to the Museum is approximately ½ mile, but you will be crossing a busy highway at the light and there are no sidewalks along the Museum’s entrance road itself for a few yards. Part of the walk is uphill. For complete schedules and fare rates, visit: Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metrorail) PRTC OmniRide/OmniLink Bus |
