Distance Learning Education Special Assistant provides technical assistance for distance learning programs that are hosted on videoconferencing applications such as Zoom, Skype, Skype for Business, Google Meet, and other programs as needed. The Special Assistant will be responsible for setting up studio spaces for live and pre-recorded programs, assisting with filming, editing, and delivering asynchronous videos in a timely manner, as well as maintaining equipment and software used by the program.
Position is limited to 29 hours per week with a term not to exceed three years. Position requires evening and weekend shifts that vary from week to week.

Collections Special Assistant works with Collections Management Section staff to assist with cataloging, maintaining, and preserving the Museum’s collections. The position is limited to 29 hours per week with a term not to exceed three years. The selected candidate must pass a background investigation.

Duties:
- Assisting with sustaining the functionality of studio equipment
- Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of Distance Learning programs and applications
- Assisting with administrative duties, responding to program requests, and maintaining scheduling calendar
- Staying up-to-date with current videoconferencing applications and trends in educational technology
- Storyboarding, filming, editing, and delivering video content
- Conducting pre-program technology tests with schools and organizations
- Assisting with the preparation of synchronous and asynchronous distance learning programming
- Researching, developing recommendations, and implementing new video concepts
- Experience utilizing various video conferencing and streaming applications
- Strong writing skills
- Advanced photography, video editing, and videography skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time effectively
- Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
- Team player
- Attention to detail
- Interest in military and/or American history

- Receive and process incoming collections
- Document artifact physical conditions
- Photograph artifacts
- Update entries in NMMC’s collections management system, DONHAMS
- Rehouse artifacts for long term storage
- Create and update catalog files
- Assist with inventories, organization, and relocation of collections
- BA in American history, military history, museum studies, and/or material culture.
- Strong writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and manage time
- Proficient in the use of computers and software (MS Office and basic photo editing)
- Previous collections handling experience preferred
- Strong photography skills preferred

- Greet and monitor school groups
- Provide an overview of the museum exhibits and directs groups
- Assist with presenting content to school groups, homeschools students, summer camp participants, and adult learners
- Set up supplies, handouts, etc., for educational programs
- Help with curriculum development
- Assist with educational special events
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience interacting with the general public including groups
- Teaching experience with K-12 students or adult learners is a plus
- Education and/or experience creating and presenting educational content
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Interest in the US Marine Corps, military history and/or American history
