“Welcome Home”
“Welcome Home,” a collection of photographs and memorabilia, captures the reunions of family members who have been separated by repeated deployments. The exhibit was born out of firsthand accounts of talented young women -- mothers and wives -- who shared their personal insights of what homecoming means to them, their children, and the heroes they have waited so long to see. These images show the Marine Corps itself as an extended family, whose members have celebrated together, mourned together, and helped each other during America's longest war and especially tough economic times.
On display through 2016
Marines at Work in Afghanistan
In the summer of 2011, photographer Nick Cardillicchio traveled with a unit of Marines on deployment in Afghanistan to photograph their daily life. These are portraits of individual Marines in their everyday work environment in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. Every Marine has an important job. Most will work unseen and unknown to the public. These images give us a look inside their world. The photographer’s intent was to capture their unique strength and courage.ecially tough economic times.
On display from May 2015 through May 2017
